of Normandy, France, later Sir William of England, entered England with William The Conqueror in 1066, listed in the Roll of Battle Abbey (see here), Knighted by the Conqueror for services when York was burned thus becoming Sir William, rewarded with lands of Etheldred of Brodsworth, Yorkshire.

[4] Marmaduke...

b. 1144, in the Third Crusade with Richard I in 1191-92 and is said to have fought single-handed and killed the ruler of Cyprus.

[7] Sir William...

b. 1218, known as Sir William of Brodsworth and heads the Pedigree of 1637 (see here), fought against the Welsh in 1277 and 1282.

b. 1386, purchased Calehill in 1410, second wife was Florence Chicheley whose uncle was Henry Chicheley Archbishop of Canterbury, John's brass memorial with Florence in Little Chart Church and depicted on the Pedigree of 1637.

John's brother William b. 1384 m. Elizabeth Calston in 1415, dau. of Thomas, Lord of the Manor of Littlecote. William and Elizabeth's eldest son (Sir) George b. 1419 m. Margery, dau. of John 1st Baron Stourton. Sir George and Margery had three daus., one of which was Elizabeth b. 1454 who was to marry Sir John Seymour. The son of Sir John and Elizabeth, the 4th successive John, was b. 1474 and m. Margery dau. of Sir Henry Wentworth 4th Baron Despencer. Sir John and Margery had ten children, one of which was Jane Seymour, Henry VIII's third Queen and mother of King Edward VI.

b. 1407, his brass with wife shown in Pedigree of 1637.

[16] Sir John...

b. 1436, in 1497 quelled a rebellion of Cornishmen, his alabaster effigy survived bombing of 1944 and has been erected in the new Little Chart Church built in 1955, shown in the Pedigree of 1637.

b. 1467, Governor of Guisnes and Constable of Haimes near Calais in France, his wife's mural monument shown in the Pedigree of 1637.

[18] George...

b. 1494, taken prisoner by Sir Thomas Wyatt's rebels at the beginning of the rebellion in 1554, and again imprisoned by Queen Mary at the unsuccessful end of the rebellion.

b. 1540, m. Anne Horne dau. of Robert Horne who was Bishop of Winchester, John and Anne's monument shown in the Pedigree of 1637, 16 children.

b. 1575, eldest brother was Sir Robert of Calehill for whom the Pedigree of 1637 was prepared.

[21] John DARRELL...

b. 1610 at Little Chart, Kent, he and brother Robert emigrated to Bermuda in or before 1645, John helpful in the settlement of New Providence in 1666 and of Carolina in 1670.

b. ca. 1648 in Bermuda, made Councillor for Warwick Parish but declined to take oath, Captain of Southampton Fort, brother Joseph had a son John who was Chief Justice of Bermuda 1737-43.

shown as a minor in 1694, Captain of Sloop "Samuels" recorded in Philidelphia (1702), New York (1704), and Curacao.

[24] Robert DORRILL...

b. 1712 or 1717 in either Bermuda or Christ Church Parish in Carolina, m. (1st)Elizabeth Cook, (2nd)Martha Hamlin.
